BAIGNADE INTERDITE

Baignade Interdite is a surrealist erotic series, an act of visual rebellion, and a love letter to my younger self who didn't yet know that being different was a good thing.

As a queer, working-class, neurodivergent artist, I have long viewed the societal performance of "gender" as an absurdity. As a cis-woman, my existence is categorised as "feminine" by default, regardless of my intent. It's a costume I never chose, and this project is how I strip it off and throw it in the bin. Shot entirely in my bathtub in North London with my signature punk eye, it is an inclusive exploration designed to deconstruct taboos and celebrate bodies liberated from rules and censorship. The models are people who exist outside, between or in defiance of the norm, and every shoot was a collaboration, because these are their bodies, not mine, nor yours.

Baignade Interdite debuts from 9 to 18 October 2026 at La Fabrique de Vêtements, a stunning former textile factory in Binche (BE), my hometown, as part of the exhibition Vaginalement Sociable, Sang et Chair Confondus. It is deeply rooted in the industrial heritage of my region: the coal miners, the textile workers, the metallurgists... My ancestors’ hard labour built the world I was born into and gave me the freedom to make art. Bringing a piece of London back home is both a tribute and a provocation, and my way of honouring their struggle by making something unapologetically free.
