On not fitting in and longing for more.
Rowan was one of the first people to respond to my model call. They immediately called dibs on the mermaid idea, which proved to be quite popular once I started chatting to more models. Here, Rowan is a siren trying to escape a tiny fishbowl and go back to the big ocean. The world’s just too small sometimes.
This was shot a few days after the death of Catherine Ringer. Les Rita Mitsouko are a huge influence on my work, the way I dress and the way I go about life, and I always saw her as a role model. I titled this image La Sirène en Mal d’Amour (the lovesick siren) as a tribute to her.
